Game, Set & Match - July 2016

Ladies Tennis
Yesterday saw 10 very enthusiastic ladies participate in our Ladies Singles Club Championships Day. 40 sets were played throughout the afternoon in the very hot sunshine! Tracy Warren and Nicola Douglas both qualified for the finals in September and runners up Kat Hales and Natalie Bott will play each other in the Ladies Plate.
Big thanks to Marianne, Nola, Shady & Stan for the delicious food and a special mention must go to Stan and Andy for clearing up the clubhouse afterwards while the ladies sipped wine. It was great to see so many husbands and children supporting the ladies and enjoying the club facilities all afternoon.
L to R: Marianne, Nicola, Emma, Kat, Liz, Shady, Nola, Natalie, Tracy, Alex

STC Summer Schedule
Unfortunately some of the coaching sessions have had to be re-scheduled due to club matches which take priority. Jude will endeavour to make up sessions as and when the club diary allows.
Juniors
Jude is running day camps on the following dates of the summer holidays:
25th July, 1st Aug, 8th Aug, 15th Aug, 29th Aug
Time: 10am - 3pm, cost is £20 for members, £25 for non-members. If your child/children would like to attend any of these dates please let Jude know.
The Junior Tournament will take place at the end of September. More details to follow.
This year Jude will be holding a brief Prize Giving session for all the juniors who have either won trophies or gained their certificates. This will take place on Friday 15th July at 6pm and will be followed by an informal BBQ. All parents are welcome of course and tennis will be run afterwards on court as part of the usual junior club night. If your child cannot attend and is expecting a certificate please let Jude know and she will make sure it is presented at the end of their usual tennis lesson.
We have been delighted how well the junior club night has been going. Please continue to show you support as this is vital experience for your kids progression. If your child has not attended but would be interested in playing please let Jude know and she can provide you with the details.
Guests
Club members are welcome to bring guests to the club. Fees of £3 per guest per hour are applicable. There is a silver honesty box located inside the court lights box at the back of court 2. The rusted metal box, which has housed the money box to date, has now been disposed of.
Housekeeping
A few important reminders:
GATE: If you are the last to leave, please shut and lock the gate on leaving the car park. This is important to ensure travellers do not gain access to the club site.
RUBBISH: Rubbish, mainly sweet wrappers, are sometimes left around the grass area. Please pick up your litter and respect the club grounds. Parents, we kindly ask that you remind your children about this.
COURT 3: The centre court strap on court 3 has had to be replaced twice. If anyone knows why this strap keeps being removed and parts of it left lying around on the court, please let one of the committee members know.
CLUBHOUSE: Please can you ensure that toilet lights are switched off, crumbs are wiped off the table, the floor is swept and wet cups and glasses are not left to drain but are dried and put away in the cupboard.
Many thanks for your anticipated cooperation on all these matters.

The Mens 1 team have so far won 3 of their matches and lost 1.
Unfortunately, the Mens 2s lost in their match against Castle Hill.
The Ladies 1s lost in their matches against Dunmow and Henham.
