Courts
Courts 1 & 2 have had a total make-over and are looking like new again. They have been cleaned, de-mossed and repainted.
Coaching
The summer season coaching programme has begun and there is now a session to suit adults/juniors of all ages and standards. With 9 junior sessions, 2 ladies coaching mornings and 2 adult evening sessions available, there are more adults and juniors having lessons than ever before. The 7-8pm Monday Improvers sessions have proved so popular that we are now offering an additional session from 8-9pm. There are still a few spaces available should anyone wish to sign up for a 5 week course. Please contact Jude.
Ladies Nights
Our first Ladies Night of the season will take place on Wednesday June 8th. This is a very friendly evening where women of all abilities can mix in and get some doubles practice. For anyone interested, the night will run from 7pm.
Juniors
This year we have entered an U14 boys team and an U18 girls team into the Halsted and District League. No matches have been played yet but the juniors are keen to get started.
Our Junior Club Night have proven to be a great success. We have seen a regular turn out on a Friday night of players all happy to mix in and play regardless of age or standard. It's giving them vital match practice ahead of the summer league matches coming up. Thanks goes to Sophy Jones who has been helping to co-ordiate the juniors.
If any juniors would like to join our WhatsApp group - set up for communication between junior members / parents about the Junior Club night - please a) ensure you have the WhatsApp app downloaded to your phone then b) text Sophy Jones (Junior Captain) on 07802 829765 to let her know you would like to be added to this group chat.
Mid Week Club Morning
A new mid week club morning will start very soon on Wednesday mornings from 9.30am. This morning will be coordinated by Nigel Warren and Keith Hind and anyone interested should contact Nigel on 01371 856321. Non members are welcome to come along as guests (fee £3).
Gnome Tournament - Sunday 12th June
We have had a fantastic response to this year's fun, mixed tennis tournament which will be raising funds for Cancer Research. Play will start at either 12 or 1pm depending on final numbers. Liz Davies will be in touch with all those who have entered towards the end of this week to confirmed exact start times and catering requirements.
The Gnome Tournament is now in its 11th year and since its inception, we have raised over £3,300 for a variety of local charities. The winners of the tournament are awarded 12 months custody of our friendly garden Gnome - pictured below with Keith Chapman.

Team Managers' round-up of Essex Small Clubs League news
The Mens 1 team have had a good start to the premier division summer league with an 11-4 win against a strong harlow team, a 10-6 win over Henham and an 8-8 draw over Dunmow.
The Mens 2 team, who are in Division One for the Summer, have only played one game against tough opponents Much Hadham and unfortunately lost.
The Ladies 1 team has managed to remain in the Premier League for the Summer and have yet to play as the only scheduled game in May was cancelled.
With only two of the ten matches played so far, the Mixed 1 team has had a steady start to the summer season with one loss and one draw. The standard of play has been very good from all teams involved, although we probably feel that we have not been rewarded enough for our efforts! It is great to see players who were troubled by injury back in the team and playing some brilliant tennis. It won't be long before we have some wins under our belt if this standard of tennis continues!
The Mixed 2 team, who are also in Division One for the Summer, have managed to play three games so far. Although losing all three games, two were only narrowly at 7-9.
Let’s hope for better results and weather in June!
