Coaching
As many of you aware, Jude will soon be leaving her coaching role with the club. We will of course miss her hugely but she has reassured us she will continue to be involved in club life.
The committee is delighted to announce that Sheetal Pandya will be taking over the position of Head Coach at STC. Sheetal is a very experienced Level 3 Head Coach at Castle Hedingham Tennis Club and will be sharing his time between there and Stebbing Tennis Club. He will officially be taking over from 4th June and between now and then will be working alongside Jude to ensure a seamless transition after half term. He will be sending a message out to all members very soon to introduce himself.
Mark Clark, who last week completed his Level 2 qualification, will also be coaching at the club - his Squad Training programme begins tomorrow. An email with all the details was circulated yesterday to members.
Club maintenance
Many thanks to everyone who helped out at this year's Working Party - the club is looking very spick and span!
We plan to do some hedge trimming in late May so any offers of help with that would be gratefully received.
We are always looking for help with our clubhouse cleaning and lawn mowing rotas - the duties only require an hour of your time. Please let Sabina or Josh know if you can help with either:
Email Sabina (cleaning)
Email Josh (mowing & hedge trimming)
League News
The weather in March and April continued to play havoc on the matches with some matches not getting played before the deadline at the end of April 2018.
With regard to the results for matches played so far:
The Ladies 1 Team finished all their Winter matches on 21 April 2018 and should end up, once all the results have been processed, in either second or third in Division 1.
The Ladies 2 Team has played 3 winter games - they have lost 1, won 1 and drawn 1 but still a game to go. And they will probably finish the season mid table.
The Mens 1 Team has finished the winter league with 3 wins and 5 losses and are likely to end up 3rd of 5 but the results aren't all in from the other teams. They haven't played any summer league matches as yet.
The Mens 2 Team is currently bottom of their division although have not played as many matches as the other teams.
The Mixed 1 Team has had many of their matches cancelled and rearranged this winter season. Despite this they have achieved some very good wins. They currently sit at the top of the league table and hopefully that's where they'll stay!
The Mixed 2 Team finished all their Winter matches on 8 March 2018 and stand a chance of winning Division 1 once all he results have been processed. Well done to all the players who participated.
The Fixtures Meeting for the Summer matches was held a month earlier this year in March 2018 so that more matches could be scheduled in April and May. For the first time Stebbing has entered a third Mixed Team due to the level of interest from members to play in matches against other clubs. Hopefully, the weather will improve and all the matches get played.
Start of season events
Our start of season club sessions were both well attended last week. Beer, Prosecco and Bacon Butties were enjoyed by all those who came along on Thursday and/or Sunday. Check out the pictures in our Club Life Photo Gallery.
