League News
Now that we are into October, the majority of the summer league matches should have been played (unofficial deadline is the end of September 2017). Full results for the summer league will be published as soon as they are available.
Men’s 1 Team:
Stephen Davies is stepping down as the captain of the Men's 1 Team. Steve has played in, captained and managed this team for many years. The team has had great success, winning the premier league numerous times, and this season finishing hopefully at the top (we are just waiting for the final results). A huge thank you from Jim, Paul, Josh, Jacob, Mark, Will and many others for his dedication and hard work for the team. Stebbing is a small village club and Steve has ensured we've competed at a high level against much larger clubs. Mark Clark has very kindly offered to take over from Steve and we wish him luck for his first season managing the team. Jim
Men’s 2 Team:
The Men’s 2 Team had played all their matches by 4 September 2017 and will finish towards the top of Division II and are in contention to win the Division! Tracy
A big big thank you to Tracy for managing the Men’s 2 Team since it started. Of all our teams, it has the largest squad of players, all keen to participate so ensuring they all get their fair share of matches is no mean feat. Andy Bott has very kindly offered to take over managing the team and we wish him well in this role. Jude
Ladies 1 Team:
Since the last newsletter, the Ladies 1 Team has played their last two matches of the season – a good win against Braughing and a possible narrow win against Clavering as rain stopped play just before the end. Depending on the results of the other teams, the team should finish towards the top of Division 1. Tracy
Ladies 2 Team:
The Ladies 2 Team won their last 3 matches and should finish in 2nd place in their division. A fantastic result! Shady
Mixed 1 Team:
A few good wins recently for the Mixed 1 Team against strong opponents have moved us up into the middle of the Premier league table. We're now just waiting to see the outcome of the results. Josh
Mixed 2 Team:
The Mixed 2 Team has also played their last two matches of the season with a good win against Dunmow and a loss against Harlow. They will finish mid-table of Division 1. Tracy
The Fixtures Meeting for the Winter Season is on 16 October 2017 - Tracy & Shady will be attending this. Shortly thereafter, the team managers will be sending out the dates looking for players for the matches. If you would like to be considered for any of the teams, please come along to club night on Thursdays and/or club morning on Sundays, or let the team managers know.
Boys U14 & Girls U18 Teams:
The Boys U14 Team has been promoted to the A division in the Halstead & District League - we have no doubt the boys will rise to the challenge! Graham Sargood continues to manage the team and has a very healthy squad of 9 players for the coming year.
The Girls U18 Team has seen their squad swell in numbers to 6 which is great news. Leticia Douglas will be managing the team this season.
On behalf of all our members who play in the leagues, a huge thank you to our team managers for their endless patience, emails, texts and phone calls to confirm and re-arrange matches. Your hard work is much appreciated!
Car Park & Facilities
On Friday 20th and Saturday 21st October there will be very limited access to the car park while we redress the surface. The material will be brought into the car park on Friday, then on Saturday we will have a mini digger and a roller to do the majority of the hard work. However, we will still need some man power to spread the material. If anyone is willing to help out from 11am on the Saturday, please let Josh McDowall know – 07895 483019. Please bring wheel barrows and shovels if you have them! Refreshments (including bacon butties!) will be provided.
This week we applied moss kill to all 3 tennis courts and weed killer to the external perimeter of all courts and the bank of soil outside court 3. The weeds will die off in the next week or so.
Clubhouse Cleaning
We have had a new rota in place for cleaning our clubhouse for the last 6 months which has worked very well. 6 lovely volunteers have each cleaned our clubhouse once duing that time. We are now looking for more helpers over the next 6 months. It only takes an hour of your time and all offers of help are much appreciated. The clubhouse is used by all our members and it's only fair that the maintenance of our facilities is shared around. If you can help, please let Sabina Bird know on 07793 893545.
Monday Evening Adult Coaching
Monday evening adult coaching sessions will start again next week from 8 - 9pm. Please be aware that club matches take priority over these sessions so they tend to run only as and when the courts are free (and when the weather is kind!). If you'd like to receive Jude's alerts as to when these take place, please message her on 07825 169249.

It was great to see STC feature on the back page of the Dunmow Broadcast last week. Well done and thank you to Tracy Warren for the press release and for all her hard work as Hospital Cup Coordinator for STC.
